A new study shows that an unhealthy diet causes more deaths globally than smoking. It claims that poor diets are responsible for about 11 million deaths per year. Diets containing high amounts of salt, low whole grains and fruit were the main cause. Among the 11 million deaths linked to diet in 2017, 10 million of those, were results of cardiovascular disease.
The researchers suggest eating whole grains, fruits, and vegetables to decrease the risk of possible heart attacks and strokes.
